In a display of sheer skill and unwavering determination, the 2023 Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon showcased a breathtaking showdown in the world of show jumping. This prestigious event held at the historic Dixon Oval brought together the finest equestrian athletes from around the globe, all vying for victory and the chance to leave their mark on the sport. Amidst fierce competition, one duo rose above the rest, solidifying their dominance in a remarkable performance.


The stage was set, 10,000 eager show jumping fans lined the rail and anticipation filled the air as riders and their horses entered the iconic Devon Horse Show grounds. The meticulously crafted course, designed by the renowned Anderson Lima, tested the limits of each competitor's abilities, demanding a combination of technical finesse and unwavering bravery. It was a true testament to the artistry of horsemanship.


Leading the charge was the remarkable Ashlee Bond, a force to be reckoned with in the equestrian world. Bond, riding for Israel, showcased her undeniable talent and impeccable riding technique astride her equine partner, Donatello 141. Their bond was evident as they seamlessly navigated the course, their unity of mind and spirit evident in every stride.


As the competition intensified, it became increasingly clear that Bond and Donatello were a force to be reckoned with. Their flawless round left spectators breathless as they soared over each obstacle with elegance and precision. The synergy between rider and horse was palpable, captivating the crowd with their seamless partnership.


With every round, the excitement in the Dixon Oval grew. It quickly became a three rider competition. Devin Ryan aboard his long time mount “Eddie Blue” and Schuyler Riley aboard "Robin de Ponthual" were the only other two combinations to complete the course fault free.


With the jump off set it was Bond and Donatello to lead the way and lead the way they did. Entering the ring with a thunderous canter, it was apparent from the first jump that this was a competition for 2nd place. Racing around the Dixon Oval, slicing corners and skimming jumps, this horse was no longer Donatello 141 but the “The Don” of the Dixon Oval.


As the sun set on the Dixon Oval, a new chapter was written in the captivating world of show jumping. Ashlee Bond and Donatello 141 emerged as the champions of the Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon, forever etching their names among the greats of the sport.
